Earlier this week, the Los Angeles Times reported that new research has found that surgeons with the highest scores in Super Monkey Ball, Star Wars Racer Revenge, and Silent Scope preformed the best on tests of suturing and laparoscopic surgery. Those stitching people back together and performing operations through televisions that guide them during surgery.
Doctors who had previously played video games for at least 3 hours a week at anytime in their lives worked 27 percent faster, and made 37 percent less mistakes than those who had never touched a controller. Proficiency with Super Monkey Ball 2 seemed to be the game most closely linked with the higher test scores.
Dr. James C. Rosser Jr. of the Beth Israel Medical Center in New York stated, “For as little as 3 hours a week, you could help your children become the cyber-surgeons of the 21st century.”
