State of Emergency 2 Goes Gold!

Southpeak Interactive announced that State of Emergency 2 has gone gold and will hit retail shelves in February. The sequel has tons of features that make it bigger and badder than the predecessor, which sold over 1.5 million copies. Spanky, the main character, can control several vehicles including helicopters, tanks, and boats, all of which are armed to compliment the wide array of weapons he can carry.

State of Emergency 2 includes an interrogation minigame along with 15 arcade modes and five multiplayer modes for up to four players. The main draw is the cinematic single player mode with 12 missions and multiple objectives.

“We are looking forward to reintroducing everyone to Spanky and his crew and to hitting the top of the charts again,” said Mark Greenshields, Chief Executive Officer of DC Studios. “Our team has made State of Emergency 2 a really great game and one that far surpasses the original. I am extremely pleased to be publishing State of Emergency 2 with SouthPeak and confident that together we will make SOE2 a great success”

As in the original, State of Emergency 2 is all about huge crowds and mass destruction, and there’s even more to love now. Crowds respond to your actions, rallying behind you or freezing in fear. In Spanky’s fight against the Enforcers, you can lead Capitol City’s gangs to do your bidding. You’ll also be able to switch between different characters to take advantage of their abilities and overcome obstacles. Of course, there’s plenty of unlockable content including cheats.

State of Emergency 2 for the PS2 will hit stores in mid February and is rated M – Mature. A PSP version is slated for fall 2006.
