MLB Pitcher Loses Weight with Wii Fit

Baseball fans know Heath Bell as the powerful reliever that exploded upon leaving the Mets.  Fantasy baseball players know him as a candidate for the closer position in the San Diego Padres organization.  Nintendo fans will now be able to know him as the “fat baseball guy who played Wii Fit and got less fat.”

The perennially-overweight pitcher came close to breaking the Padres’ scale after checking in at 270 pounds not too long ago.  He went home and, upon seeing himself in the “popular” “game” Wii Fit, decided to act.  “It said I was obese,” he sobbed between donuts, “the game made 'my Mii' obese.”  A million Sun Salutations and a billion hula hoop pivots later, Bell has trimmed off twenty-five pounds, almost dropping back to his 2008 weight of 240 pounds.  While many have debated the actual potency of a Wii Fit-centric exercise regimen, Bell is the first athlete from a major sport who has openly pointed to the game as a useful tool for them.
