Final Fantasy XIII-2 Review

Final Fantasy XIII-2 Review

For those gamers who have followed the Final Fantasy series since the old days of Final Fantasy VII, Square Enix will not disappoint. Boasting a time-action battle system and an enchanting story line that plunges gamers into a world of mythical beasts and fantasies, it is no surprise that the Final Fantasy franchise is an old classic similar to the Metal Gear Solid series. Published for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 back in 2012, Final Fantasy XIII-2 is a sequel to Final Fantasy XIII. What is different from Final Fantasy XIII is that their Paradigm system is customizable. This new system allows users to capture monsters and use them in battle. Along with several other new features to the game, Final Fantasy XIII-2 has received highly positive reviews from many video game journalists. The game has been praised for its graphics and gameplay, and has sold a tremendous amount of units in its first week of sales.

The Return Of Lightning

Lightning, the star protagonist that game enthusiasts are diehard fans of since Final Fantasy XIII, has returned to Final Fantasy XIII-2. With new cities to explore, an exciting new storyline, and a wealth of new characters and game features to explore, the game offers a mythical world that absorbs users into it for hours of gameplay and a timeless experience of wild adventures. Using the Active Time Battle (ATB) system, players can select actions from menus. Such actions include Abilities, Item, or Attack. These menus dictate the action that your character will take and this is how you engage in battle with enemies in the wild.

The Paradigm System

With the new and improved Paradigm System, players are given the freedom to program 6 different roles to their characters. The available roles are: Commando, Ravager, Saboteur, Sentinel, Medic, and Synergist. The Commando role utilizes non-elemental attacks. Ravagers put to use of elemental attacks. Medics heal the party. Saboteurs weaken enemies. Synergists improve the strength of their allies. Lastly, Sentinel uses protective abilities. The game’s 2 main characters are given the choice to be able to assume 3 roles and as the game progresses, they are allowed to learn other roles at the player’s discretion.

A Luring Adventure And Timeless Gameplay

If you have ever played the Final Fantasy series, you are sure to be familiar with their mythical creatures such as Moogles, Chocobos, and more. Square Enix never disappoints their fans and this applies to Final Fantasy XIII-2 as well. With a captivating storyline combined with a beautiful battle system and state of the art graphics, disappointment is not possible. Not only will fans get to see the return of old characters from previous Final Fantasies but they also get to see some of their favorite game elements revamped and improved. Square Enix sets the bar higher every time they release a new Final Fantasy and it is with absolute certainty that Final Fantasy XIII-2 has surpassed the bar and standards they have set.
