Burn In Hell

This is not a game.  This is torture.  But since you are in hell, torture is acceptable.  Pocket Devil is a little app that gives you the chance to kill small devil creatures, known as a “Mugat2” in various fashions.  The game consists of one screen with a column of buttons on the left side.  They enable different means of executing these poor little creatures.  You can hang them from a chain, pour gasoline on them, drop them on a spiked bonefish, put them in a guillotine, or simply drop them in the fiery lava that surrounds you.  If you are feeling generous and would like to grant redemption from this hellish dimension, you can open up a stairway to heaven and let the little bastard become an angelic baby that floats into heaven.  Don’t worry, there is an endless supply of little devils you can shoot out to kill in whatever fashion you prefer.

I found this app pretty boring.  I typically don’t like pointless wastes of time that offer no actual gameplay or challenge.  However, some people (my wife included) seemed to enjoy torturing small creatures very much.  It has steadily risen to the top 10 of the App Store and the company plans on releasing “episodes” of the game on a regular basis.  I suppose these will include new and inventive ways to kill of more Mugat2 things.  This is the magic of the iPhone: to take something silly like this and offer it at a reasonable price ($0.99 in this case) and somehow a large number of people decide it’s worth their money.  I don’t quite understand it, but I support the business model and hope Eyedip continues to make fun and simple apps that everyone can enjoy.  And who doesn’t enjoy killing small devilish imps?
